If your discharge is too large to qualify for an exemption or you are too close to a protected site, you will need to apply for a permit.
If you are applying for a permit for a small scale sewage discharge (for discharges up to 15 cubic metres into ground or up to 20 cubic metres a day to surface water) you will need to fill in the form on this page. The guidance notes will help you to complete it.
Please note: this application form can be filled in on your computer. However, you will need Adobe Version 7 or later to be able to use it. If you prefer to complete the form by hand, please print a copy out. You only need to fill in the sections of the form which are relevant to your application. However, you will need to go to each section and tick the appropriate boxes which will allow you to move on to the next section. If you are applying for a small scale sewage discharge (for discharges up to 15 cubic metres into ground or up to 20 cubic metres a day to surface water) you only need to fill in Part B6.5 and no other parts of the application pack:
There is a one-off charge for a permit application for a small sewage discharge up to 5 cubic metres per day of £125. The fee for over 5 cubic metres per day is £885.
