Information on the proposed Energy from Waste facility in Saddlebow, King's Lynn.
Our draft decision consultation closed on the 23 May 2012 and the final decision is likely to occur in the next two weeks.
Once we’ve made our final decision we will place a copy in the public register, together with the reasons and considerations on which we have based this decision, including any changes that have been made following this assessment.
The decision on the variation to the nearby Centrica Power Station has now been finalised.
What's happened so far?
In July 2011 we received an environmental permit application from Willows Power and Recycling Limited for an energy from waste facility in Saddlebow, King’s Lynn. An Environmental Permit from us needs to be in place before the plant can start operating.
Between the 22 July and the 21 September we completed the initial consultation with key organisations, and the local community, on this application.
Since then we have continued with the assessment process. This has taken into account the environmental issues specific to the King's Lynn area; such as the existing (and proposed) industrial emissions and the effects of abnormal conditions, such as flooding from the Wash, on the proposed installation.
Our draft decision was consulted on until 23 May 2012. To view the consultation documents, that were consulted upon, please click here:

What's our permitting role?
Our role is to consider the environmental impacts the Energy from Waste facility could have on human health, air, water, land, habitats and species of animals and plants. We also look at noise levels and energy efficiency of the plant and the combined effects from other proposals, such as the Centrica Power Station expansion.
