Company Level Environmental Accounting, Reporting and Information (CLEAR Info)

An EU LIFE+ co-funded project that aims to improve how businesses implement environmental legislation by using information on the environmental performance of parent companies.

The Environment Agency collects data on more than 500,000 businesses. Many of these are owned by global parent companies based in over 30 different countries. Often information on environmental impact is stored at a site level, which European Commission LIFE programme logomakes it difficult to link this information back to the parent company.

CLEAR Info will adapt our existing systems so that we can:

  • collate site level data, and link it to the parent company
  • generate reports quickly and easily on a company's environmental performance across all the businesses and sites they may own
  • use the reports to influence businesses environmental performance, through liaison with business at the parent company level
  • provide reports to the financial sector, with the right information to inform investment decisions

Project objectives

The aim of CLEAR Info is to have better evidence with which to regulate companies that own a number of businesses and sites.
